GENERAL BOARD MEETING MINUTES 

AUGUST 28, 2008

The August meeting was called to order by President Anderson. 

Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. 

Moment of silence for deceased members. 

Roll call of Officers took place.  All present. 

Motion to dispense reading of the minutes by Shirley Cockrell.  A second by Steve Kowolonek.  Motion passed. 

Financial report was read by Shirley Cockrell.  Motion to accept by Randy Darby.  A second by Phil Malone.  Motion passed. 

COMMUNICATIONS 

Letter from United Way requesting a donation from the UWUA.  A motion was made by Randy Darby to donate 200.00 with the funds going to Family Cancer Care.  A second by Lori Turner.  Motion passed. 

REPORT OF OFFICERS 

None to report.

OLD BUSINESS 

Discussion took place on the UWUA picnic on September 19^th. 

A letter was drafted by the company to Arbitrator Stanton, offering to pay 50% of his bill now and 50% 30 days after receiving his answer on an old arbitration. 

President Anderson is sending 2 union members to the conference in Cleveland on September 26^th. 

NEW BUSINESS 

Everyone will receive a letter in the company mail soon concerning the time line for ‘retirement choice’.   

The GDA1 arbitration case was denied. 

Last person in the pool was recently placed at East Bend.  The pool will no longer be available. 

President Anderson went over grievances. 

A notice about the benefit for union member Rob Hill’s son will be put on the UWUA website.  There will also be a split the pot done at the picnic with ½ of the money going to the Robbie Hill Fund. 

Randy made a motion to adjourn.  A second by Steve Kowolonek.  Motion passed.
