* we're glad of the affiliation with uwua. we think it has solidified us as one. get what we deserve.

*change chairman to president, vice chairman to vice president

*regarding job security-no job is truly secure in this day and age, so if the company is doing away with a job and henceforth the people performing that job the responsible thing for the union to do is negotiate the best severance package they can. this might include the company paying for further education or training to help the severed acquire a new job. if the job is moved to Indiana are the union people offered a job in Indiana? If so then in years to come if the costs become cheaper to have the job moved to Kentucky will it move again? when does it stop?

*Is it possible to print a side-by-side comparison of what the union is proposing and what the company is proposing? I think that would help to solidify your membership support.

*I surely hope that since we are connected to the AFL-CIO that finally we are going to use company seniority. I feel like this is the only thing we do have is our seniority. If our job is eliminated for whatever reason, I should be able to bump someone with less seniority if I am qualified for the job, no matter what department. This is the way it is in ALL unions that I have ever heard of. I'd like to know the union's position on this.

*I have heard rumor that the company made a proposal in negotiations that all district offices are closing except Central Pky and Cov and that employees with 25 yrs service or more would be red lined and dropped back to a 'D' job. Anyone with less than 25 yrs would be dropped back to a 'D' level and let go. I don't know if this is true or not, but if it is I hope the union would fight for bumping rights and not just let those people with 25 yrs be dropped back to D level. I don't feel that just because I work at a district office that is closing, I should be punished and not have the right to bump someone that has less company and seniority time than me. I don't want to see anyone lose their job, but I think it would be highly unfair to let people go that have 10,15,20 etc years with the company and keep people that may only have 2,5,8 yrs, etc. I am trying to keep the faith that the union will prevail in these negotiations, but I just wanted to let you know how I feel. I have been supporting the union for 32 yrs and hope to continue to do so. I have faith that you will do the job that we voted you to do and that you will prove that you are the best people to represent us.

*Since we have been unable to reac a contract why don't we show our unity on Monday and wear our union badges. Thanks for all of you efforts on behalf of the members.

*I have a question concerning the negotiation. What is the big holdup concerning job security? Is the company wanting to eliminate the whole union? Do we mean nothing to them. What is it they want? I appreciate your hard work up to this point and hope we can reach an agreement that will benefit us.

*Please do no agree for the company to give lump sum checks instead of an hourly pay raise. Lump sum checks seem to not consider overtime pay. I would really like to see some real positive things come out of these negotiations instead of the company just give us another 'pacifier' I know that job security is a real big issue and I agree with that, but I have not seen an increase in my annual base pay since about 1996. Managers expect so much our of us these day, it seems we are expected t do 'more with less' everyday. We need to demand more out of managers, especially out of top management. They need to stop giving themselves raises and share the wealth with all of us. I trust you will do the best you can with job security, wages, please do not let us down.

*I just wanted to let everyone who is involved in these negotiations that I am thinking of them and I know it is hard on all of you. I know that you will try to get the most that you can for us and for that I want to say THANKS! You're in my thoughts and prayers.

*Is it in the negotiation this time to let this union use vacation saved for sabbatical towards your retirement like the other two unions do?

Dear Cinergy Management TEam:

Each and every employee of this organization clearly understands the pressing need to do each and every thing that will place each of us in a positive position given the eminent competitive business environment. However, by refusing to recognize the 'bumping rights' of some of your brightest and historically most valued employees, the term 'Employer of Choice' becomes quite simply ridiculous.  Clearly, Ladies and Gentlemen, what you are attempting to do is set precedent for additional future downsizing that will allow the organization to benefit from separation with higher-dollar personnel. No wonder the company wants to keep this quiet. It becomes quite evident that the NLRB, PUCO, and the public at large would consider this AGE DISCRIMINATION in perhaps one of it's purest forms. Bumping rights are, have been, and will continue to be a fundamental right of unionized workers all over the world. Human beings are fickle creatures. As a Cinergy employee of 23 yrs, I do not look forward to the day when global opinion turns against my organization simply because my management team has turned it's back on valued employees....especiallly when I review my stock portfolio.

*Thank you for a very informative meeting on Thurs April 11th. I haven't attended many union meetings due to living so far away. I was very impressed and want to thank all of you for all the time that you give to us and our families without your willingness to give and care we would not have what we have today. Again THANK YOU and keep up the good work!

*Mary, Jim, and all of our board...You all do one hell of a job for us...and I'd like to say THANK YOU all. Keep up the good work.  Thanks again.

*The company's offer included the reduction of 72 members although the offer did include a severnace and early retirement provision, they are conditioned on the Union's agreement not to contest or speak out regarding how services might be affected by the reductions. My question is: why are they wanting the union to not speak out? In my opinion this will give union members an impression that they are being sold out by the union. I think agreeing to these conditions does not show strength and unity. If the Union is controlled in any way by the Cinergy management then we are wasting our monies because we are paying for a voice to be heard, not to be silent.

*If there is one thing that we get out of this contract that we really need it is the unification of the union and the removal of the different and much too many sidebar agreements. We have allowed the management too many bargaining chips to use against us.

*I will gladly take the severance and retirement and not say a word to anyone!

*
