GENERAL BOARD MEETING MINUTES January 27, 2005

The January Board Meeting was called to order.
Treasurer Memering gave Treasurer Report. Treasurer report accepted by the Board.

OLD BUSINESS
President Anderson finalized details regarding the conferences on meter reading, and labor law and arbitration.
Five board members were appointed by President Anderson to serve on the AFL-CIO board. The appointees are Ken Wallace, Patty Memering, Bill Haubner, Dianna Grimes, and Jim Anderson.
Results of the Ranking of the Negotiation Survey are as follows: (1) Wages, (2) Retirement Issues, (3) Necessity Benefits, (4) Leisure Benefits, (5) Premium Benefits, (6) Improvements in Working Conditions, (7) Changes in Clarification of Contract Language. Thanks to all members who participated in the survey.
NEW BUSINESS
Local 2155 sent a thank you note thanking Local 600 for its donation of $100; the money was used to help defray cost of their work stoppage.
Local 600 also received thank you cards from the families we helped at Christmas.
Delegates Wallace and Hiltenbeitel who are on the sidebar letters committee gave updates on their recommendations.
Vice President Stamper reported on the compensation committee, this committee was set up to review how stipends are distributed.
Delegate Dobbins gave his report on the recall committee. He reported that only 3 people have expressed interest in coming forth regarding the recall of Delegate Malone. February 8th is the date of hearing, the committee is offering voting by proxy if you have a legitimate reason for not being able to attend the hearing.
President Anderson asked that a committee be form to access the union hall’s assets, the board decided to table this until next month.
The AFL-CIO sent a letter requesting we send board members to attend their UCAN program. The board voted not to participate in the program.
President Anderson asked the board to cancel its subscription to the magazines Supervisors Guide, and Union Labor Report. The board voted to cancel subscriptions.
President Anderson gave update on Negotiations stating that the exchange of proposals between management and Local 600 will be February 10th.
Information regarding the AFL-CIO golf outing will be posted on union boards.
President Anderson sent a letter regarding the winter storm to Caryn Riggs asking that the company reconsider their position. A grievance has also been filed regarding this matter.
Two union reps have resigned, Harold Randolph will be taking over area E-10, he had the next highest votes in the election. The board appointed Ruth Queen; she will represent area B-2. Motioned by Vice President Stamper, seconded by Delegate Malone. .
