GENERAL BOARD MEETING MINUTES

JANUARY 27, 2011

 

 

EXECUTIVE BOARD                            Jim Anderson-President

The January meeting was called to order by President Anderson. 

Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. 

Roll of Officers took place.  All present. 

Previous months minutes were read by Sec. Kowolonek.  A motion to accept

was made by Lori Warren.  A second by Mike Hoffman.  Motion passed. 

Financial Report was presented by Treasurer Cockrell.    A motion to accept was made by Camille Waller.  A second by Walt Dobbins.  Motion passed.

Immediately following the Financial Report, there was discussion about adding more financial reports in the future.  A motion to have additional reports (Profit and Loss) about expenditures quarterly was made by Steve Fischer.  A second by Patti Memering.  Motion passed. 

 

COMMUNICATIONS  

President Anderson read a letter from the National Union about the death of a fellow Union brother’s passing. 

 

OFFICER’S REPORT 

Vice-President Warren- Personal days cannot be used in half hour increments, they must be used as whole days due to the new payroll system .not being able to program.  Vacation days may be used in half hour increments.    

Secretary Kowolonek- Feels that there is a need to have new computer equipment.  The laptop being used is out of date and slow.

A motion was made by Lori Warren to purchase two laptops.  A second by Patti Memering.  Motion passed. 

Treasurer Cockrell- reported that she had met with the auditor and that the LN2 and 990 was completed.  President Anderson noted that there was some trouble with our digital signature but that the accountant was working that out. 

Delegate Dobbins- asked questions about how the Company should handle situations when an employee is terminated.  He is worried about the Safety of those involved in that area. 

Delegate Fischer- Discussed a situation where vacation time was improperly reported.  The company then took vacation time from a vacation bank to replace the extra used vacation.  Vice-President Warren then commented that it is the member’s responsibility to know how much vacation they have and how much they use. 

Delegate Memering- Was waiting on a meeting with the IT department. 

Delegate Hoffman- discussed two grievances that he filed.  One dealt with a change in uniforms.  The other dealt with sending Part time meter readers home during inclement weather. 

UNFINISHED BUSINESS 

Newsletter- President Anderson presented the local newsletter that he had prepared.   A motion to distribute the newsletter to the membership was made by Steve Fischer.  A second by Shirley Cockrell.  Motion passed. 

Grievance 311-  Arbitration on this grievance would take place in May. 

NEW BUSINESS 

Delegates were to discuss about their areas and which reps would report to which delegate.  Also, the delegates would have to make sure that all Union boards are being kept up to date with Union information. 

With the closing of the Hartwell Recreation Center, a new place would have to be found to hold future Membership meetings.  Secretary Kowolonek would try to find alternative locations and report these at the next Board Meeting. 

The National Union received an appeal of the last election.  The National would review the merits of the appeal and would have a ruling by Feb. 4th

A motion to adjourn was made by Walt Dobbins.  A second by Lori Warren.

Motion passed.
