GENERAL BOARD MEETING MINUTES July 28, 2005
Executive Board

The July Board Meeting was called to order by President Anderson.
Todd Hicks and Todd Hockey from Smith Barney gave presentation to the general board regarding different avenues for investment. The auditor recommended that the union not keep all monies in stock. We currently are investing with Driehaus. The board is looking for more of a guarantee on our assets.
Treasurer Hiltenbeitel gave the treasurers report. The board voted to accept the treasurer’s report.
Membership report -765 members.
OLD BUSINESS
President Anderson on behalf of the general board had issued an invitation to former president Mary Harthun to attend the July board meeting to report on the National Executive Board Quarterly meetings. Mrs. Harthun declined the invitation.
President Anderson has drafted a letter to be sent to the national board regarding Mrs. Harthun’s dereliction of duties
The board voted to forfeit restitution from the forth former board member.
The bylaws committee will be meeting in the month of August.
Delegate Miller to head a committee for fund raising efforts for the Christmas families anyone wishing to help on this committee contact Larry Miller.
Delegate Beckett volunteered to help Mike Hoffman with Operation Family Reunion fund raising efforts.
The letter for T and D is going through final approval stages, a copy of the letter was sent to the general board to review.
Bill printing has 5 people that will be outsourced, President Anderson and Vice President Stamper have been meeting with H.R., and a pool may be developed.
The board voted not to intervene in the Duke and Cinergy merger, the board felt an intervention would not be in the best interest of it’s members.
NEW BUSINESS
President Anderson announced we have a 45 thousand bond for the board members, unfortunately this is not enough according to the auditor, we will need to increase it by about 9 thousand more.
Donation request were received from Make a Wish Foundation & The Children Home, the request were tabled until the next monthly meeting.
The Teamsters and SCIU are pulling out of the AFL-CIO due to conflict on use of funds.
Delegate Haubner reported he has received over 128 emails from the meter reading conference, he thinks a committee should be set up to review the reports on conferences. A motion was made to have a 1 page detailed report and commentary regarding the conference given by the delegate attending the conference.
