OLD BUSINESS

Snow Day Arbitration –After careful consideration and conservations with the National (Don Opatka) an agreement to settle was agreed to by the Board, with a donation being made to the Union sponsored, Operation Family Reunion.

The union picnic will be held on Saturday August 5th at Hartwell.  Discussion took place on who was attending and what still needed to be done before Saturday.

The union hall parking lot has been paved.  Total cost was $6,154.00.

Steve Kowolonek has received some training on the treasurer’s position.  This is being done in case the union would ever need someone to ‘fill in’ that position.

Negotiations – human resources seemed okay with our counter offer.  Meet again on Monday August 1.  Everyone agreed to allow Jim and Lori to make any minor decisions with the new agreement.

NEW BUSINESS

Got a call from Don Opaka from the National, about a complaint that the union is negotiating packages.  Don checked into it and says the union is doing nothing wrong.

Don Opaka came into town last week for a AFL-CIO meeting.  He is also looking into changing some of the by-laws of the contract.  Jim wants to know if the board is interested in moving forward with this.

The question was brought up about if we have a new employee orientation for joining the union.   Human Resources is responsible for getting them signed up.  Jim has not received any new sign-up cards since March 2006.  Approximately 15 new employees have been hired in the last couple of months.

Motion made to adjourn by Randy Darby, second by Dave Schuck.
