The July meeting was called to order by Jim Anderson.
Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.
Moment of silence for deceased members.
Roll call of Officers took place. All present.
Financial report was read by Shirley Cockrell. Motion to accept by Randy Darby. A second by Pat Roderick. Motion passed.
The May minutes were read by Kristy Knobloch. Motion to accept the minutes by Shirley Cockrell. A second by Lori Turner. Motion passed.
COMMUNICATIONS
Labor 2010 Activism looking for people to make phone calls for the November election. Anyone interested in helping out, please contact President Anderson.
Social Security and Medicare Fact Sheet some figures were incorrect. Please check your Union board for the corrections.
REPORT OF OFFICERS
Lori W. congratulated Walt Dobbins on 42 years of service. -The credit union is offering a Signature Loan for college students thru September. Contact the credit union if you are interested. -Picnic update checking to see if the grove will be opened for the picnic. -Labor Relations overlooked a member for a job position. Had to go back and make correction on the mistake.
Shirley CPA coming August 3rd to give estimate on doing our books. -also talked about the new payroll system coming called My Pay.
Walt E&P hired an apprentice and 2 more contractors.
Steve discussed safety within Meter Reading.
Lori T discussed contractor issues within the E&P department.
Lori T and Steve K brought up possibly talking to an arbitrator from the Pittsburgh conference.
OLD BUSINESS
Greivance 305 arbitrator will be M.David Vaughn.
UEIP incentive meeting for July 12th was cancelled by Labor Relations. Had nothing to give us. A motion was made by Phil Malone to go to arbitration. A second by Lori Warren. Motion passed.
Election update. Ballots will be mailed to all member around September 10th. November 1st new members will take office.
Duke contractor grievance partial info received, met with Julie Ford on July 21st. 3rd stage scheduled for August 18th.
Accounting group sent request to bargain.
NEW BUSINESS
Labor Relations informed the Union that they will be transferring some billing work to accounts receivable.
President Anderson filed board charges against the Company with the NLRB on July 8th concerning union work going to India. Deposition was given on July 19th.
Solicitation policy requesting a meeting with the company to discuss.
President Anderson would like a committee (Steve/Randy) to find out from the company when certain contracts (ex. mail room/print shop, etc) will be renewed and the Union putting in their bid instead of outsourcing. (LMEC process).
Motion to adjourn by Shirley. A second by Lori T. Motion passed.
