Mr. Jim Anderson
Re: Consecutive Off Days
Dear Mr. Anderson: During the 2005 negotiations, representatives of the Company and the Union discussed consecutive off days for employees working alternate work hours. As agreed, during the term of the 2005 – 2008 Agreement supervision will attempt to give those employees working the four ten-hour days three consecutive off days. However, employees within a particular work group may request or may be required to have two consecutive off days and another off day within the scheduled work week. Supervision will give due consideration to such requests. Depending upon work requirements, employees working this schedule will receive an additional work break on each ten-hour day worked. It was further agreed that at least two off days will be consecutive for any other alternate work hours that may be developed. The two consecutive off day agreement does not apply to any currently established workweek or when changing from one schedule to another. Furthermore, the two consecutive off day requirement can be waived, but both supervision and the employee must mutually agree to such a schedule. It is thought that this letter will alleviate the Union’s concern in this matter.
Very truly yours,
John E. Polley General Manager Labor Relations |
