GENERAL BOARD MEETING MINUTE MAY 26, 2011

The May meeting was called to order by President Anderson. The Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag took place. A moment of silence was taken. Roll Call was taken. Delegate Fischer was not present. President Anderson discussed guidelines for attendance of board members. Secretary Kowolonek read the previous months minutes. A motion to accept was made by Shirley Cockrell. A second by Walt Dobbins. Motion passed. The Financial Report was presented by Treasurer Cockrell. A motion to accept was made by Steve Kowolonek. A second by Mike Hoffman. Motion passed. COMMUNICATIONS A letter from the AFL-CIO announcing the annual Labor Day Picnic at Coney Island. The picnic will take place on September 5th. President Anderson would scan the letter to be placed on all Union boards. OFFICERS REPORT Delegate Memering discussed questions about members being called out for storm duty. If a member is called for duty outside of their regularly scheduled work hours, they should be paid a minimum of 4 hours overtime. Treasurer Cockrell discussed a call from investment advisor Matt Darple. He had called to discuss possible changes in the way the Union invests their assets. Delegate Waller informed the Board that she has taken the proper class to distribute petitions for SB5. She is eligible to have petitions signed for Hamilton and Butler Counties. President Anderson read a letter from the AFL-CIO concerning SB5. The AFL-CIO would like contributions from local unions to help fight SB5. Secretary Kowolonek read a letter from UWUA Regional Director Don Opatka. It discussed concerns about SB5. He asked local unions to show their support in the fight of SB5 by making a monetary contribution. After discussion about the support local unions should have, Patty Memering made a motions to donate $3000 to the SB5 campaign of the AFL-CIO. A second was made by Mike Hoffman. Motion Passed. President Anderson discussed the ongoing Area B delegate election. Nominations could be made from June 4th to June 25th. Delegate Hoffman - discussed arranging a future meeting with Chuck Session. He also talked about the purchasing of shirts for the Board. UNFINISHED BUSINESS Real Estate Job President Anderson and Delegate Dobbins attended a job revaluation of the real estate job. They discussed the process. We are waiting for the Company to get back with information. LMEC Secretary Kowolonek and Rep Darby would get together to work on this process. They would be looking into jobs in Drafting and Design. NEW BUSINESS Feeder Group - the company is wanting to outsource this work area. At this time, the feeder group is still performing their work. Grievance #311 - the arbitration has postponed. The Union and Company will meet on June 14th to discuss specifics of the arbitration. Gary Hebbler contacted the Union about United Way. He asked President Anderson to accompany him to different sites to discuss United Way. The Board discussed this. It was decided that the Company only wants the Union when it benefits their objectives, so President Anderson would not go around to different work areas and discuss United Way. President Anderson and Vice-President Warren discussed having a janitorial service come to the Union Hall to clean. They presented a bid from a janitorial service. It was decided to wait and get additional bids. Grievance 329 - Part-timers sent home during Inclement Weather President Anderson presented the grievance for arbitration. The Board voted to take this case to arbitration. Grievance 325 Vacation Selection for NSCC - President Anderson presented the grievance for arbitration. The Board voted to take this case to arbitration. A motion to adjourn was made by Steve Kowolonek. A second by Walt Dobbins. Motion passed.
