GENERAL BOARD MEETING MINUTES

OCTOBER 23, 2008 

 

EXECUTIVE BOARD                                                          Jim Anderson - President

The October meeting was called to order by President Anderson. 

Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. 

Moment of silence for deceased members. 

Roll call of Officers took place.  All present. 

Motion to dispense reading of the minutes by Steve Kowolonek.  A second by Lori Stamper.  Motion passed. 

Financial report was read by Shirley Cockrell.  Motion to accept by Lori Stamper.  A second by Lori Turner.  Motion passed. 

COMMUNICATIONS 

An email will be sent to all UWUA employees informing them of the locations of the retirement meetings. 

Payment to Arbitrator Stanton was paid for an old grievance. 

REPORT OF OFFICERS 

Lori S. – discussion took place on adopting a family for Christmas.  It was agreed that we would adopt a family from Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana with a limit of 300.00 for each family. 

Shirley – discussed reallocating some of our funds.  President Anderson will discuss this with our financial planner and get back with the board.  A motion was made by Lori Turner to reinvest our dividends into the Spectra account.  Randy made a 2nd.  Motion passed.  

OLD BUSINESS 

President Anderson reported that the mini conference in Dayton went very well.   

The Rep/Delegate dinner will be on November 20th at the White House.  Everyone should get their list of invites to Kristy by October 29th.  A motion was made by Randy Darby to give 10.00 stipend to the Reps only.  A second by Steve Kowolonek.  Motion passed.  A motion also was made by Lori Stamper for a 2 drink minimum.  A second by Kristy Knobloch.  Motion passed. 

Discussion took place on the 2008 windstorm.  A couple of teams will be formed to try and improve things for future storms, such as staffing, safety, etc. 

NEW BUSINESS 

Grievance 284 was presented for arbitration.  A vote was taken and the case will be taken to arbitration. 

A motion was made by Randy Darby to have Ruttle & Associates do our 2008 audit.  A second by Shirley Cockrell.  Motion passed. 

Phil Malone and Kristy Knobloch reviewed the 2008 contract book on October 8th.   

Randy Darby made a motion to adjourn.  A second by Walt Dobbins.  Motion passed.
